On Friday 22nd September, our school celebrated Mercy Day. On this day, Mercy schools around the world celebrate Catherine McAuley and the founding of the Sisters of Mercy.

The theme of this year’s liturgical celebration was ‘Thanks Be To God’ and the symbol our students created reflected this theme beautifully. In their Religion classes, each of our over 700 students were invited to write on a small card what in their lives they were grateful for. Each of these cards were part of a larger display for the altar of St Mary’s Church – a unique and significant interpretation of the theme of the day itself.

Our Schola performed a beautiful hymn composed by Mr Feeley, our Music and Religion teacher, called ‘A Joy For All the Earth’. The song is the official hymn of the World Meeting of Families 2018. The performance was also streamed live on our Facebook page and can be viewed here.

Many thanks to Fr Declan, our staff and our students for all their hard work which came to fruition so beautifully on Mercy Day.
