Students from St Joseph’s of Mercy Secondary School, Navan have once again demonstrated their creativity and scientific curiosity by qualifying for the 2025 Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.


Transition Year students Emma Fitzsimons, Genevieve Dorrigan, and Holly McKeigue explore whether assertiveness in young athletes can be taught in “Tiny Leaders on the Pitch.”

Meanwhile, Orla Whelan, Grace Fogarty, and Derbhla Hurley investigate how solving jigsaw puzzles might boost children’s visual-spatial reasoning in “The Power of Puzzles.”

Fifth-year students Bohdana Dordyak and Lavinia Siretanu take a closer look at education reform with “Students’ and Teachers’ Perspectives on the Impact of Junior Cycle Descriptors,”

while solo entrant Diana Cirimpei delves into the mysteries of consciousness in “Can Our Brain Alone Explain Our Thoughts and Feelings?”

Together, these inspiring young scientists uphold St Joseph’s proud tradition of innovation and inquiry—proving that curiosity and creativity are alive and thriving in Navan.
